A new online sportsbook and casino named ChampBet has officially launched in Nigeria, marking its entry into the market as West Africa’s first self-described lifestyle betting brand. The platform, accessible at champbet.ng, began its public rollout with a launch weekend in Lagos. Starting on Friday, 6 November, at Zaza Lagos and BOHO Lagos, the activities are set to finish on Sunday, 8 November, at LuLu Beach Club. The brand positions itself as a destination for high-net-worth individuals and those aspiring to that status, distinguishing itself from traditional betting operators through its focus on lifestyle and exclusivity.

Background

ChampBet operates under the regulatory oversight of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority. Furthermore, the firm possesses a Universal Reciprocity Gaming Permit granted by the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (FSGRN), enabling it to conduct business in several states. The platform offers a comprehensive suite of gambling products, including sports betting on major leagues such as the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Beyond sports, the casino section features more than 18,000 games sourced from over 130 different studios. The platform also includes live dealer tables streamed in real time. The user interface is designed with a black and gold aesthetic, aiming to convey a sense of premium quality. A key feature of the service is the Champions Club, a loyalty programme with five tiers. Members can earn rewards ranging from weekly cashback of up to 10% to off-screen perks. Payments are supported in naira via card, bank transfer, USSD, and mobile wallets. The service is strictly for adults aged 18 and over, with responsible gambling tools available for player protection.

Why it matters

The launch of ChampBet introduces a new competitor to the Nigerian gaming market, which is heavily dominated by traditional sports betting providers. By targeting the "1%" and those on their way there, the brand seeks to capture a segment of the market that has previously been underserved by mainstream betting platforms. A spokesperson for ChampBet stated that the brand was created for individuals who engage with football with intensity and take their social lives seriously. According to the spokesperson, this demographic had previously lacked a betting brand that aligned with their lifestyle. The company aims to differentiate itself by focusing on the overall experience rather than just the stake amount. The launch events in prominent Lagos nightlife venues underscore this strategy, linking the brand to the social and entertainment habits of its target audience.

What happens next

The launch weekend concludes on Sunday, 8 November, at LuLu Beach Club. Following the initial events, the platform remains live for users to access via champbet.ng. The company has provided contact details for media inquiries through Tomiwo Ojo, the Social Media and Branding Manager. As the platform expands, it will continue to offer its sports and casino services to the Nigerian public, subject to the regulations of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority and the FSGRN.
