Police intercept suspected theft in Itori
On Sunday morning, 25 October 2026, officers of the Ogun State Police Command stopped an unregistered tricycle travelling along the Onigbedu–Itori Road in Itori, the headquarters of Ewekoro Local Government Area. The vehicle was carrying a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator, both of which had been reported stolen from the area.
The interception was triggered by a tip from a motorist who noticed the tricycle and, suspecting that the goods were stolen, followed it to Complex Junction before alerting the police. The motorist’s warning allowed the police to launch a swift operation that culminated in the arrest of one of the occupants, Adam Muhammed, after a brief chase.
The other passenger fled the scene and is still being pursued by investigators.
Background
The incident is linked to a theft that was reported earlier in Itori. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the recovered motorcycle and generator were identified as the items stolen in that earlier incident. The police have not yet released details about the original theft, but the preliminary investigation confirms a connection.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Ewekoro Division, with the support of the broader Ogun State Police Command. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the officers’ quick response and highlighted the importance of timely intelligence in preventing crime. He also commended the motorist for his vigilance, noting that such public cooperation can be decisive in thwarting criminal activities.
Why it matters
The recovery of the motorcycle and generator prevents the stolen goods from re-entering the market, safeguarding the interests of the original owners and the community at large. The arrest of Adam Muhammed demonstrates the police’s commitment to enforcing property‑crime laws and deterring future thefts in the region.
The incident also underscores the role of citizen reporting in crime prevention. Commissioner Ojajuni’s remarks emphasize that residents who promptly report suspicious movements can help law‑enforcement agencies intervene before a crime is completed.
What happens next
Adam Muhammed remains in police custody while detectives continue to investigate the full circumstances of the theft and the identity of the fleeing accomplice. No further dates or procedural steps have been announced by the police at this time.
