Award ceremony On 15 October 2026, the Euromoney Markets Awards were held at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London. Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) was presented with the title of Africa’s Best Exchange, a distinction that recognises achievements in market infrastructure, digital innovation and capital formation during 2025.

Market performance Nigeria’s equities market delivered strong growth in 2025. The NGX All‑Share Index rose 51.19 %, equities turnover increased 109.48 % to ₦5.96 trillion, and market capitalisation reached ₦99.38 trillion. The upward trend continued into 2026. As of 16 October, the All‑Share Index had climbed 59.07 % year‑to‑date, while equities turnover stood at ₦7.82 trillion, a 73.78 % rise from the corresponding period in 2025. Market capitalisation had expanded to ₦160.73 trillion.

NGX Invest platform A key driver of the market’s expansion has been NGX Invest, the Group’s electronic public‑offering platform. The service simplifies subscriptions to public offers and rights issues and played a significant role in Nigeria’s banking sector recapitalisation, raising more than ₦2.8 trillion. By September 2026, NGX Invest’s distribution network had grown to over 180 channels, including stockbrokers, banks, fintechs and a WhatsApp subscription option.

Leadership remarks Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Temi Popoola highlighted the award as evidence of the Group’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and technology that support capital formation. He noted the importance of digital access, market efficiency and deeper links with other African markets in making the capital market more accessible, resilient and competitive.

Future outlook NGX Group continues to promote sustainable finance through its NGX Net‑Zero Programme, aiming to integrate environmental considerations into market operations. The award is seen as encouragement to further develop a market capable of mobilising capital for businesses and expanding investment opportunities across the continent.

Broader context The recognition comes amid a broader trend of increased participation in Nigeria’s primary market, with the NGX Invest platform facilitating a growing number of investors and issuers. The award also highlights the Group’s role in supporting the country’s economic development through improved market infrastructure and digital solutions.
