Inaugural Council Meeting The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) scheduled its first gathering for Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at its headquarters on Plot 781, Herbert Macaulay Way, in Abuja’s central business district. The notice, issued by the council’s secretary, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as governor of Imo State, specified that attendance was limited to the 134 directors and secretaries listed for the council. The agenda included formally launching the council’s collective duties, adopting a campaign calendar, and discussing preparatory matters for the campaign flag‑off planned for Saturday, 24 October 2026, in Kaduna.
Royal Consultations Within the same week, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, director‑general of the APC‑PCC, led a delegation of party chieftains on a consultative tour of traditional rulers. The delegation first visited the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu‑Gambari, in Kwara State, before proceeding to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), in Osun State. According to statements from Yari’s media office, the purpose of the visits was to deepen engagement with traditional institutions, foster mutual understanding and request the prayers and blessings of the royal fathers. The delegation clarified that it was not seeking formal political endorsements or mobilisation support, but rather moral and spiritual anchorage from the revered leaders.
During the meeting at the Ilorin palace, Yari expressed confidence that the APC would retain its foothold in Kwara State and projected a broader victory across presidential, governorship and legislative contests in the North Central region. He highlighted achievements attributed to the party since 2019, including the resolution of challenges in education and health care, the establishment of new hospitals and other reforms. The outreach also referenced the performance of Governor Abdul‑Rahman Abdul‑Razaq, noting his role as chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum as a strategic asset for extending the party’s influence nationally.
Both the inaugural council meeting and the royal consultations are presented as the formal commencement of a nationwide tour aimed at building consensus and gathering blessings ahead of the key campaign activities scheduled for 16 January 2027, the date set for the general elections.
